Dr. Leslie Paris and Dr. Nick Shumaker

On November 2nd, Webb Orthodontics hosted our first Continuing Education course for our fellow dental professionals and their staff. It was a huge success and we had a large turnout! Dr. Leslie Paris and Dr. Nick Shumaker from Paris and Shumaker Periodontics were our guest speakers and did a fabulous job! We even tried to convert them to Husker Fans (they are from Colorado)!

Guest Biography

Dr. Leslie J. Paris
Dr. Leslie J. Paris grew up in Boulder, Colorado where she attended the University of Colorado. Dr. Paris then moved to Iowa City, Iowa where she completed her bachelors degree in Dental Hygiene at the University of Iowa. Following her graduation from the University of Iowa College of Dentistry in 1992, Dr. Paris completed a 2 year General Practice Residency at the Sepulveda Veterans Administration Medical Center in Sepulveda, California. Dr. Paris received her certificate in clinical Periodontics at the Roudebush Veterans Administration Medical Center in Indianapolis as well as her Master of Science In Dentistry from Indiana University.

Since 2003, Dr. Paris has been a board-certified Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology, a distinction shared by less than 1/3 of her peers.

5280 Top Dentist 2011Dr. Paris is a past president of The Larimer County Dental Society (2003-2004), as well as President of the Rocky Mountain Society of Periodontists (1998-1999). Dr. Paris has been in private practice in Fort Collins since 1997. She continues to remain active with the dental community, as well as being involved with Larimer County’s Crossroads Safehouse. Together with Dr. Shumaker, Dr Paris is the co-director of the Mountain West Dental Forum Study Club. Dr. Paris has been honored to be named one of Colorado’s Top Dentists by 5280 Magazine.

Dr. Nick Shumaker
Dr. Nick Shumaker grew up in Fort Collins and is a graduate of Fort Collins High School. After attending Creighton University, he graduated with honors from the University of Colorado School of Dentistry in 2001 and was commissioned as an officer in the United States Navy Dental Corps. Dr. Shumaker provided 10 years of active duty service which included duty stations throughout the world.

Before becoming a Periodontist, Dr. Shumaker practiced general dentistry for four years, including completion of a one-year Advanced Education in General Dentistry residency

In 2008, Dr. Shumaker completed a 3-year residency in Periodontics and Dental Implant Surgery at Bethesda Naval Hospital in Maryland. Finishing his patriotic service to our country at Quantico, Virginia he then moved his family and practice back home to Fort Collins in 2011.

Dr. Shumaker is a board-certified Diplomate of the American Board of Peridontology, a distinction shared by less than one third of his peers. Additionally, he is also a board-certified Diplomate of the International Congress of Oral Implantologists and holds a postgraduate Masters degree in oral biology from The George Washington University. He has published several articles in the field of periodontics in peer reviewed journals and has been honored to be named one of Colorado’s Top Dentists by 5280 Magazine.

Top DentistDr. Shumaker enjoys spending time with his wife and two children. He enjoys bicycling, hiking, skiing, home improvement projects, and restoration of classic cars. He truly enjoys practicing as a periodontist and is constantly attending continuing education courses to stay current on the latest research and techniques. He strongly believes that oral health is an important component in overall health, and strives to provide compassionate and comfortable care to his patients.
